The Segreti Wedding

About a month ago, I told you about how much fun Katie's Bachelorette party was. Dustin had celebrated with Alex for his bachelor party in Tahoe back in April. Well, the two finally got hitched! This was such a special wedding to the two of us. Alex is one of Dustin's fraternity brothers, and since I was a complete groupie that made him one of my friends too. Katie and I were in the College of Education together and spent many a nights finishing on projects at the last minute.

One night at our favorite bar Chimy's in Fort Worth (the original is right off of campus at Tech) Dustin and I called Alex to come out. We both decided we needed a good laugh, and Alex is the best at doing that. He was already out in Fort Worth and was going to meet up with us later. Katie lived down the street and I always called her any time we were out that way. When they both ended up with us later that night, I told Dustin I had this genius idea to try to set the two of them up. I introduced them both, but with the ridiculously packed bar I didn't see sparks really flying. When Alex asked me for about the fourth time what Katie's name was again, I just decided to give up on the whole idea. Well, one thing led to another and a few years later here we are celebrating their wedding!

It was so much fun. We started the weekend with rehearsal at the church. Since I was in the House Party, I got to be part of this little sneak peak. It was fun to see everyone. Since I had met all of Katie's friends, and Dustin and I know most of Alex's, we were sure this was going to be a blast. After watching a sweet slide show and having an amazing dinner, Katie and Alex went their separate ways to celebrate their last nights before getting married. I went with Dustin which meant going with Alex. We went to one of the places on West 7th Street in Fort Worth and had so much fun. We don't get to see our Houston friends very often so it was fun to catch up.

Saturday night was filled with getting ready, picking up some Bundtinis, and celebrating the new Mr. and Mrs. Segreti. Their reception was held at the Fort Worth club and it was beautiful. I'm so excited for my two friends. We seriously danced the whole night and took pictures in the photo booths. I think photo booths are the greatest inventions at weddings.  Katie and Alex make the most adorable couple and I couldn't be happier for them. Congrats you two!

Wedding Date Night

My friend Margaret called me a few weeks ago saying that her boyfriend couldn't go to a wedding with her at the last minute. Since she had already RSVP'd and planned on making the trip to Dallas anyways, she asked if I would mind just going with her. I was totally up for a night with one of my best girlfriends, and I love weddings! We had so much fun! I had met Matt, the groom, a few times in college so it wasn't like I was a complete stranger, and there were a few other familiar faces.. The bride and groom had met on match.com so their favors were match books and some super fun sunglasses. Thanks for letting me be your date Marge!

Matt has a little obsession with Star Wars. Here is his grooms cake

See, Star Wars obsession. Even had a little wedding set up with the figurines.

Our First Anniversary!

Today marks one year for me and Dustin. I can't believe that our wedding was a year ago. It blows me away with how quickly time has gone by. It also boggles me with how natural it has all seemed. All my friends keep asking if I can believe that I have been married for a year. Truth is that I can. It has just seemed so natural for the two of us.

Many say that the first year is the hardest. Dustin and I have somehow made it through with hardly any bumps. We have learned so much from each other. At Katie's Bachelorette Party, we all went around and told what we thought was so important in marriage. My advice was to just except that, that's the way he is sometimes. I think this is what Dustin and I have truly learned. We brought in two different living styles and just had to learn that we had our ways.

I am so incredibly blessed with everything I have learned from Dustin. I have learned more about the person that I am, as well as him. He is truly more of a husband than I could ever imagine.

Happy Anniversary Babe! I love you more than you could ever know. 1 down forever to go!

A Fabulous Bachelorette Party!

Last Saturday night I went to my friend Katie's Bachelorette Party. It was probably one of, if not the, best one I have ever been too. I had so much fun!  Katie's sisters, Emily and Sarah, did such a great job planning everything. I don't think there was anyone that didn't have a blast.

We started off the day meeting at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. After causing a ton of noise in the tourist waiting spot, our guide Roger showed up to take us on the Wine Tours in Grapevine. I have lived in the Dallas area all my life and had no idea how many cute wine places there were so close to home. We started off at place called Homestead. If I have a choice, I am buying all my wine here from now on. It was excellent and so different tasting from what I'm used too. If you ever do one of these tours, make sure you stop here. They are also very generous in the amount and variety that they will serve you. We went to another place in the Grapevine downtown area that served us a delicious lunch. Our next stop was the Delaney Winery where we were given a tour and a slight history lesson before getting to actually taste any wine. The whole trip was so much fun! Katie and I already decided that we are taking the boys on a wine tasting date one day. Who else wants to join?

Once we got back to the hotel, we headed down to the pool and then to the Sports Bar. Christy, Katie, and I laughed at the fact we were at a Bachelorette Party and still somehow ended up watching the Rangers Game. Everyone got ready after dinner and we headed down to the suite Katie's sisters had gotten for a party. I don't know if I have ever laughed that hard. We headed out to Ghost Bar which is part of the Gaylord later on that night. I had never been there before and had so much fun. We danced the night away.

Can't wait for the wedding in three weeks!!

A Beautiful New Mexican Wedding!

A few weeks ago, I packed up and flew to Albuquerque for my sweet friend Steph's wedding. Steph and I actually met through an ex-boyfriend in college. We became fast friends with our similar interest in acting completely ridiculous and not caring who is watching. I say when the relationship ended, I got her in the custody battle. After college, Steph moved home with me while we both looked for jobs. We lived dorm style in my childhood bedroom and made the best of the ridiculous heat that found its way there. She moved back to New Mexico after a few months, but we stayed close.

Derrick and Steph met about two (maybe three?) years ago. Derrick is completely in love with her. You can tell with every way he looks at her. I don't think there is anything he would not do for her. Steph lights up when she's with him. It is truly incredible to see one of your friends so happy around another person.

Here are some pictures from the incredible weekend: (I, of course, got a little carried away with my picture picking)

 J-Patt and Brooke.
Derrick's stepmom, Lisa, created these cute place mats. It had a fun maze with Steph and Derrick and a Guess Who? game with fun things from their lives.

We lit Chinese Lanterns at Steph's parents' house. Ours caught on fire which also somehow burnt my hair.

What else do you do when you need to steam your dress besides make a clothes line with the straps?

Look at what a beauty she is!

The song for the cake cutting was the Dairy Queen "Ice Cream, and Cake, and Cake!" Derrick broke into a fabulous dance.
